The Lake Carey Welfare Association

Welcome to Lake Carey PA

Located in Northeastern PA, Lake Carey is one of the largest natural glacial lakes in Pennsylvania.  Spring comes late to Lake Carey. The lakes cold waters prolong winter’s grip until gradually the waters warm, trees bud and lawns begin to grow. Soon the lake is a brilliant blue and the shores a bright green. Dogwoods and rhododendren will soon burst into bloom again. The heron will reappear to fish on spindly legs at the shores edge.

Now is the time to repair shoreline walls and docks before the stoplogs are placed in the spillway and the lake rises to its summer level. Docks and decks are given another coat of waterproofing. The lawnmower is hauled out of the basement. Cottagers begin to consider the need for a new roof, porch repairs, or perhaps a new boat. Lawn and porch furniture begin to reappear. Tentative plans are made for summer barbecues, family visits and reunions; wedding, anniversary and birthday parties at the lake are considered.

Soon the Association will meet again and the Chapel bell will ring at 9:30 and 10:00 for Sunday services.

The lake community stirs in anticipation of the pleasures of another summer at the lake.
