The LCWA was established by lake residents in 1938 for the purposes of enhancing the community and fellowship of Lake Carey residents. The Association organizes the annual Lake Carey Day festivities which is always held on the last Saturday of July, In addition, we hold group meetings throughout the summer and promote community events. The LCWA advocates on behalf of current members and future generations to government entities that are responsible for the water quality, fishery, and boating safety of this public recreational facility. We prepare grants to fund projects to help maintain clean water. Over the years, the LCWA has won awards from the Pennsylvania Lake Management Society (PALMS) and the Countryside Conservancy for our stewardship of the lake.
We promote safe boating, swimming, and use of our roads. We own the dam at the south end of the lake and are responsible for maintaining it, filing and paying for an annual registration fee to the state, filing annual inspections, and keeping the dam to current environmental standards.
